Cape Town is trying to encourage car racing fans to use the tracks provided for this purpose rather than city streets.
The city’s illegal car racing has claimed many lives over the past years.
Motorsport South Africa has introduced the racecourse in a bid to reduce the number of accidents and deaths.
The MSA said there is at least an official drag strip in each province, according to the Eyewitness.
“We’re now making it legal and this is really just to give guys a safe playground,” said MSA’s Wayne Riddell.
Interested racers would need to register for a whole year to use the tracks.
